Asymmetric Mandibular Prognathism with Closed Lock TMJ : Report of a case

Abstract
Treatment of internal derangment include non surgical and surgical methods. Non surgical treatment
involves corrective occlusion prosthesis, splint, physical treatment to recapture the dise
in its correct anatomic relationship. Surgical treatment via arthrotomy has been widely advocated
when no surgical treatment has failed.
In this case, 23-year old male patient was treated by sagittal split ramus osteotomy after
conservative treatment(splint, physical treatment, arthrocentesis) and experienced good result.
Maximun mouth opening, 15mm, facial asymmetry(left jaw deviation), consistent both TMJ pain,
malocclusion were corrected after treatment. Maximun mouth opening(40 mm without pain),
symmetrical esthetic facial profile, normal occlusion were observed.
